She's reported on sports for some of some of the most prominent media around the globe. She worked for The Washington Post nearly a decade covering Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as as basketball at multiple Olympics. Nichols was a reporter for nine years during her time with ESPN which saw her win two Emmy Awards, and featured on a number of the network's best programs like NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. She was also an integral part of ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcasts as an on-line reporter. She then moved to CNN as well as Turner Sports. The first show she created and hosted was named self-titled Unguarded featuring Rachel Nichols, and aired every week on CNN and CNN International. It boasted millions of viewers worldwide. Nichols was also a reporter to TNT on NBA broadcasts during the playoffs as well as All-Star broadcasts. Nichols also reported on baseball, golf as well as Final Four broadcasts for CBS as well as TBS. It was the only moment in the award's 42-year record that a woman is included among the over 200 nominees.
